New Job Dancer (踊り子) and New Monsters in Latest Trailer Source: http://www.4gamer.net/games/039/G003982/20070921030/ Translated by: Elmer the Pointy Posted on: bluegartrls.com
Square Enix raised the curtain on the Tokyo Game Show 2007 with the announcement that Final Fantasy XI Wings of the Goddess debut on November 22nd. Players anxiously awaited for more information on the expansion’s contents.
With the presentation of their newest trailer, we have been shown a slew of new information. First, we see some familiar figures, such as Orcs, Quadav, and Yagudo, but also some new monsters, like Pixes, Gnats, and giant Sandworms. We’ve also got 13 screens of the three nations in the past, and 6 screens of some new, unfamiliar terrain. Also, check out the concept art for the new job Dancer (踊り子) as well at the Cavernous Maw (禁断の口).

The new expansion, Wings of the Goddess, takes place in CE 862, upon the eruption of the Crystal War. In other words, it has to do with what happened in Vana’diel around 20 years in the past. The scenery we’ve all become familiar with has gone through some changes. The images of Sand’Oria, Bastok, and Windurst show how the ambiance of these countries we’ve grown so accustomed to will change.
In addition, a new, mysterious area has been revealed to the public. It appears to be made up of numerous floating islands, and has an ominous feel to it. You can see a fountain, as well as other man-made constructs, but wherever this place may be is still shrouded in mystery.
As for the new job, Dancer, it is described thusly:
“With their aggressive steps, these thewy terpsichoreans would weave forbidden magicks upon themselves and their enemies, producing results rivaling those of even the most powerful sorcerous cants. The popularity of this profession reached its peak during the Great War, when dancers were common additions to allied army units fighting on the front lines.”
Our guess is that a Dancer will be similar to a Bard, in that it can produce effects to damage the enemy or support the party. This goes along with what we heard in our interview at the E3 Summit 2007 in July, where we were told a party support job was in the works…
Lastly, there was some concept art for the Cavernous Maw.
“What lies beyond these mysterious portals of grotesque design, and why have they suddenly manifested across Vana’diel? Perhaps the answer lies in rumors which state similar gates were also witnessed during the Crystal War, two decades past.
These portals are what connect the Vana’diel of the past to the Vana’diel of the present, and are of great interest.
The movie seen at the TGS 2007 is available on the public PlayOnline site as of September 22nd, 11am JST. Players are sure to be happy seeing the new Dancer class, as well as the flashy new Weapon Skills exhibited in the video. Also, the BGM is just perfect for setting the mood for this serious, dark tale. Some stills taken from the video can be viewed below, and of course, please check it out on the Wings of the Goddess official site.

| Are you positive that flower in the picture is a new WS for RDM? i didn't read anything about it in the official website. Wasn't it a new mob instead and what we are seeing in that pic is its TP move ? | |
